My Photographic Style

Everyone’s heard of the saying ‘’A picture is worth a thousand words.’’ When it comes to composing a beautiful photo, there’s a series of decisions I have to make in order to accomplish my creative goals. I usually want to create a visually compelling story that doesn’t require a caption of any kind. Other than an abstract image, most of my photos are easily recognizable. One of my goals when composing an image, is to illicit an emotional response. I want the viewer to think about my image and to interpret what it means to them. At this point in my fine art career, I compose in a visually interesting way to cause an emotional response in my viewer. I enjoy sharing my images with my local artists and on a variety of social media sites. Having captured photographic images for over fifty years, it’s easy to find composition everywhere I go. Although I follow a few bodies of work, like nautical, architecture and travel, I seek out photo opportunities every day. I primarily create images for myself and enjoy a style of editing my work at my leisure and with no pressure to complete an image. I usually create several versions and often go back to re-edit in as little as a few days or even a year later. Photography has become a passion and one that brings great fulfillment to my life.
